When energy is scarce, even deciding where to begin can become another demand.

Low mood or burnout may show up as exhaustion, numbness, irritability, isolation, difficulty concentrating, or a loss of connection to activities and relationships that once mattered. Continuing to function does not mean the strain is minor.

Therapy can help us understand the pressures, losses, beliefs, and coping patterns surrounding this experience. We can work at a pace that respects limited energy while identifying small, meaningful ways to re-engage with daily life.

What depletion can make difficult

Depression and burnout can overlap, but each person’s experience has its own context. We begin by understanding yours rather than assuming one explanation.

Motivation and momentum

Approach the gap between wanting something to change and having the energy, attention, or confidence to begin.

Disconnection and withdrawal

Understand what makes contact, pleasure, or participation feel distant and build manageable paths back toward engagement.

Pressure and depletion

Examine the demands, standards, roles, and conditions that keep asking for more than can be sustainably given.

Care without passivity

Change can be active without treating exhaustion as a failure of effort.

My approach combines careful understanding with practical direction. Depending on your needs, we may focus on patterns of withdrawal, activity and routine, self-critical thinking, difficult emotions, relationships, or the values that can help orient a next step.

Respect current capacity

We set expectations that acknowledge the energy and circumstances available now rather than measuring you against an idealized version of functioning.

Look for maintaining patterns

We examine how withdrawal, avoidance, self-criticism, or unsustainable demands may deepen depletion even when they make sense in the short term.

Reconnect with meaning

Small actions can matter when they restore contact with relationships, activities, and values that depression or burnout has narrowed.

More about my background

Common questions

A little more clarity before you reach out.

How do I know whether this is depression or burnout?

You do not need to settle that question before reaching out. We can begin with the changes you have noticed, the context in which they developed, and how they are affecting daily life. When other evaluation or support may be useful, that can be discussed directly.

What if I do not have much energy for therapy?

That concern can be part of the conversation. Therapy does not require a polished account or maximal productivity. We can work at a pace that is honest about your current capacity while keeping attention on what you hope will become different.

Will therapy simply tell me to rest or be more productive?

No single instruction captures the complexity of low mood or burnout. We can consider rest, activity, responsibility, meaning, relationships, and environmental demands together, with the goal of developing a response that fits your situation.
