You can know that something needs to change and still feel unsure where to begin.

Adults often come to therapy with a mixture of clarity and uncertainty. You may recognize a recurring pattern, feel worn down by how much effort it takes to keep going, or find that familiar ways of coping no longer work as they once did.

Therapy offers time to slow down and look carefully at what is happening—without requiring you to arrive with a diagnosis or a perfectly organized explanation. We can begin with the concern that feels most immediate and build understanding from there.

What adult therapy can make room for

The work can be practical and reflective at the same time, attending both to present concerns and to the patterns that give them context.

Recurring patterns

Notice familiar emotional, relational, or behavioral cycles and understand what keeps them in place.

Pressure and self-criticism

Explore the standards, expectations, and inner commentary that make rest or satisfaction difficult.

Change and uncertainty

Clarify what matters during a transition, difficult decision, or period when your direction feels less certain.

A thoughtful, active approach

Understanding should lead to greater freedom in how you respond.

My style is collaborative and engaged. We may explore the history and meaning of a pattern, pay close attention to what happens in the present, and identify concrete ways to practice something different between sessions.

Begin with what matters now

We clarify the concerns bringing you in and return to them as the work develops.

Look beneath the immediate problem

Symptoms and decisions make more sense when considered alongside your history, relationships, and environment.

Make insight usable

The aim is not only to explain a pattern, but to create more room for choice when it appears in daily life.

I am completing a postdoctoral fellowship at Perimeter Mood & Anxiety Program. I draw from evidence-based treatments including CBT, ACT, and DBT, selecting methods according to each person’s needs rather than applying a single formula.

More about my background

Common questions

A little more clarity before you reach out.

Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?

No. Some people arrive with a specific concern or goal; others begin with a persistent feeling that something is not working. The initial consultation and early sessions can help us clarify what deserves attention.

Is therapy focused on the present or the past?

Usually both, in proportions that fit your goals. We can address what is happening now while considering earlier experiences when they help explain a recurring reaction, relationship pattern, or way of understanding yourself.

What happens during the initial consultation?

The consultation is a brief conversation about what is bringing you to therapy, what you hope might change, and whether my experience and way of working seem suited to what you are looking for. It is not a commitment to begin therapy.
